The Wentworth Shooting Sports Club is a non-profit
organization incorporated June 23 , 1975 and
registered with the Province of Ontario. We
currently offer a wide variety of shooting
disciplines for our membership, including IPSC,
SASS, Intercounty as well as offering a number of
entertaining "fun nights" for members
and guests to the club.
The club is currently run
by a 14 member Board of Directors, elected
each year at the Annual General Meeting. The
Board of Directors, through monthly meetings,
governs the operation of the club and all
financial matters.
We are a heated indoor handgun shooting club with a
20 yard range and 17 shooting ports,
electronically timed target turner and safety
systems. There is a comfortable lounge with a
viewing area of the range where coffee and pop are
available.
As this is a handgun club we allow any caliber of
handgun as long as it does not do any
damage to the range. As well as handguns we also
allow rifles that are chambered for pistol
calibers, eg. 22, 38/357, 45 colt, etc. Shotguns
are allowed as well, but on a limited basis (later
during the time period we are open, when there are
empty ports available on either side of the
shotgun). Only lead shot is allowed, no slugs.
As well as standard bull's eye shooting our club
holds competitions in
IPSC (International Practical Shooting
Confederation), SASS (Single Action Shooting
Society) as
well as participating in the Ontario Intercounty
Handgun League. We also host a number of in-house
fun matches which are designed to be fun for the
newest shooter as well as the seasoned shooter.
Membership is open to women and men on an individual or
family basis who have a valid PAL
which has a restricted firearm classification. We
also offer a junior membership for those 12 to 18
years old whose parent is a member of our club.
Guns will be made available for use by any probationary
or full member any time at the club at no cost.
You do not need to own a gun to become a member.
We have targets at the club for sale.
The club is open Monday and Friday evenings from 6:30
pm to 11:00 pm and Saturday morning from 9:00 am
to 12:00 noon. There is always a director on duty
during shooting and the firing line is supervised
to insure the utmost in safety.
